A Californian café in the Eaux-Vives

Open kitchen, salad bar, a terrace that catches the morning, pilates classes with Form Studio upstairs. Pink and sky blue, music at a cheerful volume — California, without apology. It is the second address after the takeaway counter at Place des Bergues, and the one where you can sit down.

Ceremonial matcha, with pea milk

The matcha is what it is known for: ceremonial grade, whisked to order rather than pumped from a bottle. Ask for it with syrup and pea milk. Pea carries matcha where oat flattens it, and the syrup takes off the grassy edge without making a dessert of it.

The salad no one talks about

The quieter reason to come is lunch. The bowls are built at the counter from vegetables cut that morning, with dressings that aren't compensating for anything. Around it: açaí bowls assembled to order, avocado toast, grilled sandwiches, porridge, smoothies, pastries made without refined sugar. Most of it is vegan and gluten-free, and nobody makes a point of telling you.

Lunch, Sundays, and after pilates

A weekday lunch you don't feel heavy after. A mid-morning matcha with a laptop, before the counter gets busy. Sunday breakfast, when half of Geneva is shut. Straight after pilates, which is upstairs.

Not for dinner or a drink — the doors close at 17:30 on weekdays, 18:00 on Saturdays.
