A 1914 building, redone
The house dates to 1914 and spent the 1950s and 60s as the Waldhaus, the address in Adelboden where people went to be seen. It reopened as The Brecon with interiors by the Amsterdam studio Nicemakers — contemporary, warm, and unbothered about looking like a traditional Bernese chalet inside.
Everything is in the rate
Meals, drinks — soft and alcoholic — afternoon tea and the spa are all included, which changes how a stay feels: no running tab, no deciding whether a second glass is worth it. Food comes out of an open kitchen, à la carte at breakfast and dinner, built on local produce.
Eighteen rooms and four suites
Twenty-two keys in total, which is the reason the all-inclusive model works here — it is a house rather than a resort. The Bernese Alps' western massif is directly outside.
Adults only
Nobody under eighteen, which makes it the opposite of a family hotel and exactly right for a couple's weekend. Bern airport is about an hour away; Geneva, Zurich and Basel are two to two and a half hours by road.
